Michael Robinson, LMSW
My job as your therapist is to accompany you on this journey of life. I will help you navigate the ups and downs that life throws at all of us. I will help you improve your quality of life and help you reach your full potential. Together you and I will tackle any obstacle that might prevent you from being the best you. I have experience working with athletic industry stress and issues. I also work with individuals seeking therapy for relationship issues, the stress of fame, urban trauma as well as employment stress and frustrations.
Together we will explore difficult moments, raw feelings and emotions, untold truths all while setting goals for positive long-lasting change in a warm, non-judgmental space. Working together, we will look to improve your outlook on troubling issues in your life, interpersonal skills, communication skills and build a better sense of self-worth and self-acceptance. Throughout my years of experience first, as a young athlete playing competitive contact sports or later in life having the opportunity to work in the entertainment industry, this along with my formal training at Adelphi University School of Social Work, has helped shape and sharpen my strength-based clinical approach. I specialize in using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you gain a better understanding of your behaviors and motivations. I will also help you draw the line between your thoughts, feelings, emotions, impulses, and behaviors. We will use this to help you gain positive meaningful changes in your life and in the lives of your friends and loved ones.
I am a NYS sports fan, and that includes all New York sports teams. The teams I love the most do not always win the most but as a good friend of mine says “What are you gonna do”. We will figure out what to do that is best for you once the crowds have lessened and the cheers have stopped together.
